tobin lake season finale
« on: Apr 02, 2008, 09:24 PM »
made or hopefully annual season windup trip tp tobin got about 3 full days fishing in. very very slow as far as action goes but when we got em it made up for it. had some real heartbreakers to. so many freight train hits on the tip ups that we missed. lost fish in the logs, lost fish at the edge of the whole etc. i'm sure we long distance released a few 20 lbers :'( overall though a good trip as we had no fish under 11 lbs and the majority were from 13-17 lbs. just would have been nice to break 20 a few more times, my brother in law did get a new PB with the big fish of the trip a 46.5" the was pushing 28 lbs. gotta love the new slot, only one legal fish and it was a 46.5".

You guys got it tough at Tobin. Whats the legal length now? I wish they would implement a larger size limit here in Mass. Awesome way to end the season.

no fish can be kept from 29.5" - 45.5" one over 45.5". total limit is down to 4 fish as well, not that you would ever catch 4 under 29.5 in one day anyways.  all barbless hooks now as well.

That is great. Here it is only one fish but anything over 28". But the fish are so few and far between guys keep them all the time no matter what size they are over 28" or at least 10lbs or bigger. Which is usually around 34" on average around here. Some day MA may catch on to a better program.

I was pumped to see them introduce this a couple years ago around here.  Should start to see the full effect of it in about 10yrs, looking forward to that.     Nice haul again, MP.  8)  Oh, yeah, by the looks of all those big girls you landed you must have been using a good wire leader or something, eh.   ;)   :D

to tell you the truth the weather still sucked, was -20 or colder the last few mornings :-\ there were a couple that i thought maybe the barbs might have kept them on, for the most part i didn't think it made much difference, when fish fish get around the logs there is nothing you can do about it, some them we just flat out missed too, miss a couple in a row and it kinda messes with your head.
