I was thinking the same thing, man, I wish I could weld.  That's almost fancy grade right there. 8)  Love the sap house as well. ;D

Got through 35 gal. yesterday, 10 hours,   still have to finish and bottle this morning.  Going to wait until the p.m. to start the 12 gal. collected yesterday so I can include today's in the same boil, going to be another solid run today.  Think that's going to do it for me and will probably pull the taps tomorrow, this syrup making stuff is too hard on the liver. ;D

Just finished bottling,  3.5 quarts on the 35 gal., not as light as IceMan's with the divided pan but pretty darn good for a batch boil, best we've ever made for sure.  8)  On to the next round. ;D

Boiling my last batch tonight! collected the sap and pulled the spiles today, I usually boil it down the same day that I collect it so I've had some late nights during the last few weeks, Now I can finally get a good nights sleep.

finishing up the boil on my last batch right now.  Pulled all my taps yesterday.  It's tough pulling a tap when it's still dripping.

Put my first ones of the year out this afternoon.  Already got a little drip, drip in the bottom of the bucket.  Time to set up an evaporator.  Anybody else syruping yet?

I tapped two trees last thur. It ran a little fri., sat, sat nite. I boiled down what I had and have a pint and a half of nice amber syrup.  Dripping a little today, but not much. I wanted to get some more trees tapped today, but didn'nt happen. The early saps the best. @)

It's becoming that time of year folks!!  I probably won't tap trees for another 10 days, but depending on where you live it's definately getting close.   Boiling sap and icefishing Moosehead - Doesn't get any better then that...

18 volt drill will get it done, but you definately go through some batteries.  I gave up on manual drills a couple years ago - found that I was losing by buzz with all that exercise.   ;D

Perhaps, but in my neck of the woods the spiles dictate the size of the drill bit....

How many taps does everyone have? This is my first year at my new house and it looks like I'll get about 20-25 taps on my 2 acre lot. Doing the last minute prep now and hope to get my taps in this weekend.
