As for the K3 , Des Plaines Con Area, with the river up!, ice is building, but
will take longer, As for Milliken, can't tell today. Same for Mazonia's
But tommorrow ?  Some of the smaller farm ponds are starting to lock up
pretty good. With the cold front and wind chill ? Maybe early in the week
 well be banging holes boys!

All strip pits in area , have good ice , some are still open due to wind.
Mazonia , smaller lakes 3.5"-4.5" ice, larger lakes 3.0"-4.0" ice thinner ice,
deeper water, water clarity is the problem, spooking fish

As of 01/25/08 , K3 backwaters are off bounds , the rising water from the ice
locking up the river as shut down all roads around the Des Plaines con area.

01/27/08 Milliken lake was open, fished the east side as well as the west, about
twenty or so out , the skies where blue, the fish was not so good, acouple of
small stripers. But with the K3 rising don't know if it will be open the rest of the
  week ?

01/28/08 Mazonia , both north and south units, we fished south unit, but most of
the main lakes where closed, gates locked, hunters still picking off geese.
fished the smaller lake across from the entrance to monster lake. Ice is 5"-5 1/2"
water very clear. Picked out five very nice crappies, two gills. Fished the weed
 edges in about 12' water

As for the K3 backwaters forget them lots of open water, and all the gates are
locked, the flood did a job on all , moved alot of trees around, sheet ice all over.

Mazonia ice is still good, up to 10" in some spots, but for what their catching
and or hitting , that's a mixed bag, bring an arsenal of jigs
Will post later this weekend w/ lakes and such  Chopstyx

Hit Mazonia wilderness area south , hiked back about 1.5 miles to those lost lakes
worked weed lines 6'-8' , marked fish, if i could buy one atleast i'd felt better
Left went to the north unit , blind 19 up top, belly boated that water to check
structure for hard water, worked the duck blind, weed line out from the point.
a very nice line, found green banged holes, marked fish, again when i'd pulled in and
saw no one i'd should of went home , got the boat and went to Braidwood like
 everyone else!

Take I-55 a farther south, to Reed Rd exit # 233, turn left on Reed Rd,
Take a right at the gas  station, follow down a bit, go over the railroad tracks,
take a right,,  RT-53  follow down a bit on your left the entrance to Mazonia North
Now if you want to go to Braidwood Cooling lake, the road you turn on to enter
Mazonia go straight to the end, Kanakee St ,turn right .The first left is the south
 entrance to Braidwood
Mazonia south unit is off Kanakke st farther south, look for a little gray and red
sign , turn left , Monster, Eagle , Ponderosia lakes are on the right, to fish these
it's good to have a boat, or a belly boat. Not a lot of shore area's to fish.
  GOOD LUCK THIS YEAR, Chop

Well this is the last report this year, Unless good old Mother Nature blesses us
with one hell of an artic blast that locks up very thing hard!!!!!!
  One can wish!!!!!
This year seemed at the beginning  a little slow, front after front coming through,
  late ice, excuses, excuses.
But for the year moving in the wilderness area seemed to be the right move,
caught fish, some quality, some not!
Did some testing on afew theories, got good results. Aqua view camera helps a
  lot!
Getting ready for soft water, as i believe most of us are!
Good luck on the water this year , remember this
Fishing is one jerk waiting at the end of the line, waiting for a jerk at the other
    END.    Chopstyx
