So this for is for people with mental health issues bacuse I got fishing only to kill fish lol
I don't remember who said it but it always stuck with me. "Never give a fish away." If you give a fish away, that means you have too many yourself. Keep what you need and release the rest. Just my thoughts.
That's what we are here for.
It is about ethics, ethics my friend
Hi there Jer, Did you make it down to Diefenbaker, last weekend, and how did you make out. F.B.
How about it being about the law??? You criticize someone for keeping a LEGAL fish??? How about you being criticized for keeping any fish?? Does that make sense?? WEll PETA criticizes the catch and rel;ease angler, the catch and release angler criticizes the catch and keep, and now you catch and keep anglers have somehow developed the moral high ground to criticize someone else for keeping a LEGAL fish!!Many trophy fish are not viable breaders anymore, but eat for lunch the ones that are. So maybe a trophy hunter is doing a service!! Ifthe law had a cut off per se a slot limit, then cool with me. But if it is legal to keep a specified length fish, and yu do, you are NO LESS of a MAN, person, sportsperson etc....But thou who cuts down, criticizes and calls others unethical is less of a man, and while feeling he is morally better than everyone else, is actually acting like a PETA fanatic on a different level. If you do not appreciate those that keep trophies, then lobby for slot limits. Till then, accept the fact that the catch and Keep guys are no lesser of a man than you. They are following the law!!
But if it is legal to keep a specified length fish, and yu do, you are NO LESS of a MAN, person, sportsperson etc....
Ahhhh...yes you are. Just because it's legal doesn't mean it's ethical. But I don't want to get into a battle of wits with an unarmed man. So, go for it. Keep all the fish that you want because it's legal. Just stay off of my waters.
We have already had this debate on the thread "stronger regs", I updated it so it should be right below- But as for the topic- personally i think people that keep fish that are trophy's, or even top breeders, are krazy. Fish can be fished out, and the rumor that trophy fish are not breeder is absolutely absurd. If you go to any hatchery, or net capture for eggs- the best eggs are from big fish of ALL SPECIES. Rainbows to walleyes. Now for some people a 12lb pike is a trophy- others its 25lbs. So what people classify trophy fish is all from upbringing and what they know. But for our Sask waters- we need those big fish to keep our populations sustainable. No one is saying that you are a low life for keeping a trophy fish, but continually keeping trophy fish, for the dinner table none the less, is getting our fishery no where but downhill. This also goes for little rats- why keep five 10 inch walleye? Better off to buy some highliner. The only good thing about people that continually keep trophy fish are that they usually don't catch alot of them, or fish for that matter. These types of threads should be more about educating than bashing.
Hey flyboy, yeah I did go, but like Mitch said, I got skunked. Seen a huge sucker, some walleye, some trout, pike, and other fish that I could not identify. I bought an Aqua-Vu Quad Pod today so hopefully I will be able to catch something this weekend. Going Saturday and Sunday.
Considering yourself better than those that keep a big fish is quite arrogant and egotistical. Those fellas on here with a catch and keep trophy in your own words are less of a man than you? Wow, quite full of yourself eh?? So is it you and a handfull of fellas that have determined what is ethical for everyone? Maybe what is ethical for you is anal for another and vica versa??? Well at least you have shown your true colors of eliticism for all to see. Wow, calling other fishermen less of a man for keeping a trophy......a sad State of affairs for you indeed. For those of you that do keep trophies, and I am generally not one, I will not pass judgement on you, nor consider you less of a man. I suspect most "Sportsmen" on here would not either. Kudos to each of you for your own up-bringings, beliefs and "personal" code of ethics!!!
