I was told the shallower the water the better. Place a bit of trout bait, powerbait at the bottom, 2 lb leader at first light. Is this good advice?
Thanks,
Jig this....hi Stefan

I caught 8 bows with Dustinfromnh last weekend and I could touch the bottom of 90% of the holes so in 3ft or less of water on sandy bottom, i use power bait with size 6 salmon egg hooks and a little split shot 8inches from hook.

JigThis, glad to see you back. Well I couldnt tell you the best for tagged bows because I have never caught one! But most of my trout fishing is done in less than 3 feet of water as well and in as little as 6in. The trout could barely fit. From what I hear they like to trap the the baitfish up shallow so during the day they will cruise the shallows. Salmon eggs usualy do the trick for me. usualy if I a hole gets the bait swipped but no hook up the trout wont be far. Ill just drop my line back in with salmon eggs and they usualy are right back again. Its pretty fun!
