I was gonna head out for the 1st time this year, I was wondering how much ice there is and how the pike are biting.

thre was a buig draw down of water, and the shallows are now out in the open...heard fishing was poor, for all species due to the drawdown.  I have not fished it this year, but this is mostly due to what i've heard from other people.

From what I have been told everywhere has been slow. But its that time of the year thick ice heavy snow cover very little light entering the water means very little photosynthesis happening which results in lack of oxygen and lathargic fish. But maybe with this warm up some run off will get some oxygen in the water again and they will turn on. There is only one way to find out if they are biting. Everyday is different.

Tibbs, and I went there last year. Long Drive from the Worcester area. Had a good time, 40mph winds and caught some fish. 8:00 in the morning caught a 4lb. bass 10:00 caught 10lb Pike.  1:00 Tibbs caught a HUGE 16lb PIKE..   then it was time to leave.. long ride back..   about 1hr 45min.

Pontoosuc looked like a muddy toilet yesterday.  Drilled 5 holes and everyone of them was very murky-no visibility.  Picked up and went elsewhere.  Don't know what caused the muddy water.
