Walleye lakes - central / southeastern adk's?
« on: Feb 11, 2007, 09:56 PM »
what lakes other than great sacandaga and saratoga lake have respectable quantities of walleyes?  I am looking to venture away from saratoga lake and would like your advice as to which lakes hold fishable numbers of eyes?  I heard that sacandaga has some however they are difficult, at best, to pattern there.  Any other lakes in washington, fulton, hamilton, warren or saratoga, etc., counties that you guys would recommend?

Please let me know your advice...

The only other lake I know of that is suppose to have walleyes in it is lake Algonquin in Wells. I've never fished it nor have I ever seen anyone ice fish it so I don't know how it is. Good luck and let me know how it turns out for you if you do fish it. Also Lake Champlain has walleyes in it too.

Very few walleye waters in our area. Another one in Washington County is the Champlain Canal, watch the current.

Little Long Lake in the Forestport, White Lake area they just stocked them a few years ago and from the couple of guys I know that fish it for Pike said in past years occasionaly they get a small eye said this is the first year they have caught a couple decent sized eyes. Other than that just outside the ADKs to the south west is Delta and that definately has a good population of eyes.

Hey everyone -

Thanks for the replies.  I'm going out this weekend and have not made up my mind where.  Should I decide to go to Lake Algonquin in Wells I am going to need some advice on where access is and where I could buy bait around there.

As always, any advice regarding where to start the search for the eyes would be appreciated however I know how everyone is with their secret spots...

Thanks again for the replies!

Not southeastern adks, but what about Franklin Falls/Union Falls flows up NE of Placid?  I think there're some walleye waters up that way too.  Never fished 'em but that's what I've heard of the two reservoirs up that way.....:)

Can I go fishing? Unless it’s on Brant, I can’t.

I've fished Harris in newcomb a few times. Easy access, we never caught more than a couple but we just started to locate them. Size limit is 18" though. Caught nice LMB and SMB every time for bonus action, small pike too.

Don't waste your time on Glen Lake, they haven't been stocked there since the 80's, and never started reproducing.
