If you are after crappie or eyes the fishing is usually good.  They feed all night long.

I was out tonight on a local lake and it was slow.  I had 2 fish on but lost them coming up.  >:(  Night fishing can be hit or miss.  Tonight I had one of the miss nights.  It was a beautiful night to be out.  I actually fished in the FishTrap w/o gloves for about 2hrs before calling it quits.  I've had nights where the crappie bite was very good and took some nice fish.  Good luck!
That taxidermy man back home gonna have a heart attack when he see what I bring'em!!

i  enjoy fishing at night  a little more success and its a good time to unwind after     I go about evrynight not much success this year but in years past I almost would have rather fished by lantern than by sunlight.

Depends on what your after and where. Crappies, Eyes and Burbot & Smelt can be much better at night than day time hours, but Rock Bass ;) at night bite better during the day.

I used to fish at the Small Boat Harbor at night. Sometimes we would get a bunch of Crappies. We also got some nice Northerns at night. There are streetlights along the parking lot that keep the ice well lit. I think this helps attract the fish, and you don't need to bring your own lights.

Lots of fish seem to be more active in the pre-dawn/dusk hours and over night. Walleyes, Crappie and Smelt come to mind as well as Pike. I have heard that big browns are active in the late hours as well. Like Whitetail111 said though it is hit or miss (way to many variables to be an exact science).
If you spend a little time searching you will find some other threads that take on this subject as well.
