I'm waiting until the first weekend in December...at least. Call me an Iowan if you have to but strolling out on the ice in late November is looney tunes hardcore. ;)

I didn't bring any gear with, I just wanted to check the ice before it got dark. I threw on the life jacket and the safety picks, then I spudded my way out. I got out 200-300 yards and I found no less than 3.5 inches(measured with a ruler). Most spots it was over 4''. The way this wind is going with these cold nights, we should have 5'' by Saturday.

Don't take my word though, spud your way out! Do not forget your PFD and safety picks! Let someone know where you are going and when you will be back.

i'll be out sunday hopefully will have some pictures to post of the first fish to be iced this winter!! man i cant wait.. the high here today was only about 12.. wind was blowing pretty hard.. went over by alexandria and the smaller lakes are completly froze the bigger ones still have open water 200 yds off shore...

Nah, it will be fluffy snow and it will all blow off of the lake.

I would, but I brought it in to get the lower unit worked on.  I figured with the snow coming, this was a good time to get it out of my driveway.

Skippers Non Scientifick weather purdictions....

Its too dang cold to make all of that snow, I say we get less than 4''. It will be puffy so the wind will blow it off of the lake. ;)
