what area do you fish in,,im in houghton /keweenaw/baraga county and we have decent ice on lots of our lakes,,been out for two weeks all i wanted

yooperdave, do you guys have fishable ice in the houghton area? just talked to a guy that lives on the lake and he said not yet. We just cancelled our yearly smelting trip because of no ice yet. Let me know please.  Mike

they are fishing on chassell bay (for last 2 weeks), otter lake and any of the small ponds or lakes. where do you smel;t fish. lake superior has no ice obviously. message me back, always check this site at least once a day. do you have an E-MAIL address, leave it for me, glad to give you any info i can.

Hey Fishin2, I think you have Houghton Lake (In the Lower Peninsula) and Houghton/Hancock area in (Da U.P. eh) mixed up. As far as I know they do have some ice up there.
But us poor suckers on Houghton Lake (LP) still dun have any although it is 32 degrees this morn and the ground is covered with a fresh layer of snow. Wooo Woooo!!!! 32 is supposed to be hi for the day, only down from here, Yeahhh!!!!!!!!!!!

cold nights in the u.p. of michigan, can go just about anywhere but lake superior. had limit of real nice perch (8"-12") sunday.
