North Snow Bay is wide open.  I dont know about Spragues.  All of James is open.  You can launch a boat on George.  It doesnt look good.  I didnt find any fishable ice around the area.  I talked to Leroy and he said he hasnt heard of anybody fishing around there.  AngolaJones you found any fishable ice in that area.

Spragues is totally frozen over with about 1.5 inches of ice. Me and hardy went out to check it out today. We were able to stand on it but not definitely not enough to walk around and fish off it. The only other place that we found to be covered with ice was crane marsh with about an inch of crappy ice. Hopefully this warm weather will pass us and we will be fishing next week. good luck all.

What is Spragues?  Does it go by another name?

My ponds on the property are ice covered and snow covered (about 2 to 3 inches), but I doubt if they have more than an inch thick of ice thickness. However it did get down into the single digits this morning.

I found about 2 inches of ice off the north side of the dock on my pond this morning.  The south side of the dock is still open.  Too scary for me.

Crooked Lake third basin is frozen over. I have no idea how safe it would be yet.
Going to drive by Fox today and check.

I went north today to look for ice, figured I could find a small lake or channel with ice.  I ended up with unused bait, and a wet foot.  Several channels are froze over with about 1 to 1.5 inches of ice, couldn't find any with 2 inches.  All of the lakes with any size to them are still wide open, some of the smaller lakes are froze over, but the ice is only .5 to .75 inches, if that.   Seems like most places are only a couple days away from being ready, but with the warm temps coming, its not going to happen, unless you find a channel the next two days, after that it is all going to melt, there is no way any of it will stick around for the next couple weeks of warm weather.

I would love to get out the next couple mornings if someone else has found good ice.

Be careful on Loon Lake on thin ice.  It is a long way to the hole and with changing conditions can be bad.

Nope, i know about loon lake. I would advise anyone not to take chances. Sure there are a few channels you MIGHT fish if there are people all around in steuben Co. I would leave it at that.

Here's one of my ponds this evening. I will check it out Sunday after another night in the teens. Mostly likely though I will be fishing off the pier.

Wouldn't work. It's become wet and refrozen. It's not powdery. It's not that deep anyway. I see one forecast is calling for a high of 61 next Wednesday and rain. That ice will probably be history.  >:( :'(
