onota lake ice report 2023,

Does anybody know if onota is safe to fish?

Checked it out last night, all black ice, 4 inches near shore and 3 on the main body.  Would trust it when it’s cold out but wouldn’t with it going to be as warm as it will be.  Not willing to see how much it will bend before it lets loose.

   Right there with you, I gave it a check yesterday as well. Talked to a couple guys fishing the main body. Maybe 3.5 inches at best , they said they had lost about a half inch over the day. Ice was cracking and bending, like you said if it was colder or freezing over night would have went for it but gave it a pass. To early in the season to be stupid.
