Total teaser here... 12° last night just got some small ponds locked up today, but 60° forecast Friday and 40s/50s in the 10 day.

I got all my gear out a week or two ago. Popped the fish house up in the garage a couple days ago and gave the roof its annual spritzing of waterproofer. I'll give it a week or so to air out.

It's looking like a January first ice kind of season around here. There are lots of highs in the 40s and 50s in the extended forecast.

I used to get my gear out around thanksgiving and sort it to be on ice early December.now i dont even look at it until xmas and still dont get decent ice until 1st week of January if im lucky.

I like cold, but hate dealing with a bunch of snow. First ice is usually the beginning to middle of January in my immediate area, so we're on pace to an average-ish start time.

Got another foot of snow last night. They are calling for negative double digits here at the house this weekend, it’s sitting right at +13 right now. We did have a warm up the past two days and it actually got up to +32 which was pretty darn hot after having a month were it never got above +10. Defiantly no shortage of ice here. If your thinking of moving to Ak I’d hold off, the bears have been waking up and teaming up with the wolves to run down and eat all the people that decided to move here during the pandemic. Those that haven’t been eaten are all freezing to death cause they don’t know how to properly heat their igloos.

Here in Colorado its been 60F all autumn so I been fishing open water and doing well. Just a 2-3 hr drive and plenty of lakes to ice fish.

Depressing for sure. Canceled a reservation for an airBNB because I didn’t want to get stuck paying for half of something I couldn’t use if there wasn’t good ice by the trip.

This thread would be more interesting if we knew general areas your from. Maybe u all know each other and know that already.

From SE WI myself and no decent ice just yet for spots I fish. Neg temps at night for 5 day forecast. High of 42 on Sunday. I’m sure someone’s on ice but don’t want the masses following. Hopefully soon!

Good to know I am not alone. I check the extended forecast obsessively and then cope with my depression by buying ice fishing gear. I am getting a nice little stockpile of gear built up. I don’t think my wife is impressed.
