Id either look for a hidden set screw or look for a broken piece of plastic.i looked at a pic of the  clam auger and it looks pretty cheap plastic handles.dont let it spin around to much it will break the wires.if you cant find the problem ol duct tape to hold it.

Me? No. Don't work on electrics. Not my thing. I would call Clam ASAP, howver, and stop using it before ya tear the wiring and guts out, though.

O boy.....sorry to see that. That was a REAL scam by FW. Like the old song, "Take the money and run".
Won't go into detail, but it turned into a huge mess with their stuff, and most folks lost their money on the defective crap. They have (had) a basket full of lawsuits against them They since have gone bankrupt.
This is from their (sic) website:

Warranty Update

Due to the current state of our business and the COVID-19 pandemic, we will no longer be servicing warranty claims for any of our Dirty Hand Tools, RanchEx, Vinsetta and Clam brands.  We will continue to selling and servicing Trophy Strike products.

"We will no longer be selling Clam products.  We affirm that the listings describing the items being sold was true and accurate to the best of our knowledge."

All you can do now is try to get some warranty out of it from Clam. If you used a credit card, and it wasn't over 90 days ago, get ahold of them and pass this info along. Most will do a merchant refund, or in addition, like mine, add an additional one-year warranty when it's over a certain amount. Good luck; let us know what happened.
Maybe someone else has a better idea, that's the best I can do knowing what you told us.
Good luck with it.

Auger worked great
Before i get to concerned
While the auger was drilling < this way or clockwise
The top twisted > counterclockwise so is something just looser or is it not supposed to be able to spin at all

If you payed with a CC, instigate the bad product thing, bail and walk away. Looks like a classic case of "plausible deniability" for any of the responsible parties.
To fish or not to fish? That's a stupid question!

This is so.....clam. Never make it or design a product just rebrand/slap your clam label on it to make cash.

Totally agree with you agro.  In the same realm as h.t.

Esox- I don't understand what you're trying to communicate whatsoever and I'm not sure if anyone else does either.  Can you post some pictures?

Have to agree now, especially after this, which is news to me. I haven't worked on 'em but HAVE watched friends use theirs....and their tops sure as heck don't twist!
