I am asking to hear what has worked well for everyone and why you choose the line you did.

I prefer Woodstock nylon SAND color braid 36lb for my tip ups. My reasoning is I target mostly northern pike, the sand color is easier to see down in the hole especially when there is snow cover and it can be difficult to see line direction from a potential take.  It can be helpful to say the least. Again just what I prefer for that specific reason.

I’ve been using 50-80lb black kite line. It’s like Dacron but much cheaper, $10.99 for 2,400’. I just got this from Amazon and it’s good stuff, it’s similar to 50lb Dacron:

Magic line that creates more ice as it goes through the hole!

JK of course. I’m currently spooling with Cortland Dacron #50.

30lb vinyl coated nylon. It really helps with the tangling

150# reg braided line, strong as can be, doesn't absorb water, and relatively thin compared to other "ice lines"  yet thick enough that you arent slicing your hands on a bigger fish that running, and you can fit a bunch on the spool... way cheaper if you are looking to re-line 6 traps

And I'm not talking about powerpro or suffix, just any ol' budget line off amazon, I use kast king. 300yds of 150# will run ya $25 and that's enough to put 150ft per spool... more than enough for any water/fish we are chasing around here
