I hope they're right.  But I don't put too much stock in it.  The weather will be what it will be.  Hard to predict more than a week or two out.
My Setup:  Otter XL sled on a smitty.  10" Strikemaster Lithium 50 Volt auger.  Clam Bigfoot XL 2000 hub.  Garmin Striker 5 Ice Bundle.

yeah, I don't waste time with the Almanac. I've come to trust the NOAA predictions, they've been spot on every year that I've been reading them. This winter they are predicting La Nina and that PA is going to have an above average temp year with average precipitation. Basically same as last year. I'm pretty much counting on a year of carefully picking my way across the ice again. I just hope the slabs and perch are biting better this year than last year, I got tired of ending up with piles of gills on the ice  :icefish:

I am with Spider on this one and keep expectations low. Hopefully, we get a positive surprise but I won't hold my breath.

Heck, we are already planning a trip back up to Chaumont.  Just trying to come up with a time frame when we can get 10ish people up there again.  Let the freeze begin. ;D ;D ;D ;D

At this point I'm just looking at all the dang oak trees dumping leaves all over my back yard. Ice is way off yet. Heck, I still got a few packs of perch and gills from last year to finish off ;D

Water temps are still in the mid 50's here in central PA.  Highs still in the 70's.  Ice is a LONG way off around here.

LOL! I'm thinking cold, a cold winter, I'm too old for any more brutal cold winters. But hey, I'll take what the boss upstairs says I can have. :icefish:

I have a question for you fellas, does anybody know if frabill i3 jacket and bibs are floating or not? I would like to get a suit that floats without completely breaking the bank. Any info is appreciated! Thank you

I own and use this one. Nice and warm. But to your question...I believe all "ice suits" float to some degree. Some just keep you up longer than others. This one, although not rated as a floater, will keep you up long enough to crawl back on the ice. Some air will get trapped inside. And like you said, this one won't break the bank. And just make sure you're on good ice to begin with.

I thank both of you! And I found ice runner makes a pretty decent suit, just waiting for some ice before I make a move

Haha.  Wishful thinking.  I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you on the Christmas ice though.  Especially after last year's lack of freeze.

I wish you luck!  By my thinking, if you northern guys aren't on the ice, then what chance do us central guys have?   ;D

I sure hope that heat miser takes this winter off. Just bought the Strikemaster 24v auger.  Hope to get some of use out of it.
