The perch look good!  I don't think there is a limit on perch in Idaho correct?  Maybe if I can get my crew interested in taking a trip there.

With the drive you guys have from CO. I don't blame you. The only hope is it melts down a bit, it gets down right cold and we get a nice thick crust layer or even cloudy top ice by mid feburary

That's the way it should be!  I used to care about catching a lots in my younger days but now, bringing home fish is a bonus as long as we have a good time hanging out, eating, drinking, and BS together a few times a year.

I agree. Catching fish is just the gravy when you're fishing. And there's sure nothing wrong with grand ambitions like yours. You can get into some decent bluewater marlin off Cabo

San Lucas for a lot less than 10 grand. You might have to drink Dos Equis instead of Sapporo though. My personal bucket list would include hooking into some Giant Trevally but now

I'm too old and too poor to get there in this life. Just go like hell while you can.
We're born, we live for a while, and then we die.  Sounds like a good reason to go ice fishing.

Stayed there this last weekend. Its not the fanciest or the newest or the most expensive. But they cater to the sportsman crowd. Even have a room out back to clean fish inside out of the weather. Nice folks and easy access n room to park. Birch Glen gets my money when I decide to stay in Cascade.

We book houses thru grand welcome. They have a few you can ride sleds out from. If your party is less than 6 or so people you probably want a room at birch glen or there's another place in Donnelly that's closer to poison creek.

Can you ride snowmobiles from the resort to the ice? it appears you could ride across the golf course just below it to the ice easy peasy, if they allowed it! and yes more fish porn please!!!

How was the fishing?  Do you need sled to get to the fishing spot or need to hire guides?

Caught one nice Trout on the Jaw Jacker Saturday, Perch everywhere all over the screen on the Panoptix and the Recon, had over 20 on screen at one time. Threw the tackle box at them to no avail. Could call em in with a rattle bait or perch talker and get them to chase but no bites. Several pecked at the maggots on the small jigs but no ripped lips. Some Guys at the Birch Hammered the Jumbos but we were not as lucky. Most of the people fishing down south end of lake by us were not doing well Saturday. Went and did the dumbest thing ever n Augered my hand a nice 10 stiches later and ruined the fishing on Sunday. We walked on, just get into 20' of water n hole hop till you get on them. Guide, we don't need no stinkin guide, not that many around or available anyways. saw some people on sleds but it was a slush fest under the 4-6" of crusted snow with 4-6" of slush then 1-2" of white ice, don't trust that crap, n then about 6.5" of good clear ice. Fished out of Blue Heron

Is the amount of slush normal for there? or is this just the exception for the place this year?
