Getting better every day. Heart attack on Christmas eve stent put in so I have to slow down for a whiole

Nice to hear you're still on top of the ice. The fish will still be there when you're back on your feet. 😉

Pilgrims just did a drone fly over the lakes. Not a person on caddy. What do they fish for behind there shop?

I went by Mitchell Lake this morning to check on the ice, hoping to fish it this weekend.
The rain did some damage, but they still have good ice in spots. With any luck, it will tighten up soon.

Here is what I found:

Big Cove, soft shoreline with some areas to access. After finding a slushy access point, I went out about 75' to find 2" of slush on top of 3" of ice.

I was told the ice did improve on Big Cove once you get out farther. and there was a group out farther

Small Cove has a soft shoreline as well, but a nice packed path.

Small Cove had a group of people fishing as well

By Thirsty's was a soft shoreline with no one fishing.

Hemlock Campground access is closed for the season

The best spot I found was behind Pilgrims Village

Right off the boat Launch at Mitchell State Park. 2" snow on top of 2" of white ice on top of 5" of black ice. :)

I checked Kenwood Park on Lake Cadillac which looked, well not so good.
I didn't go any further so I don't know if there are better spots on Cadillac or not.

Good Luck all

Thanks Joe...heading up in morning. Pilgrims Village just posted a drone flyover of the lakes on their FB page. Pretty cool.

I have caught perch by pilgrims and heard of pike and walleye being caught there as well.

We be going  behind pilgrims when we go. Just got done looking at depth map. We never fished there. Not a lot sticking out at me lol
More than likely Friday, hardly any wind and we can bounce around easier than getting wind slammed

Behind Pilgrims you will find some varied depths that create contour points along with some humps in spots.  As Joe mentioned, pike, walleye, and panfish are common catches along that stretch.

They have registration envelopes right at the launch that you can fill out your address and put the money in.  Put the tear off part of the envelope on your car/truck dashboard and place the envelope in the collection tube - they will mail you a 2020 window sticker.  Cost is a few dollars more this way versus the SOS.

Right at the boat launch, that's great!

When you renew you license plate remember to kick in the extra $11 for the pass.
It puts the letter "P" on your tab which is good at all State Parks and State Park boat launches.
Of course everyone knows that, Sorry but I had to throw in a free plug for the park pass  ::)
