I'm happy to say that I just ordered a new Vexilar FLX-12 and it should arrive shortly, in time for ice season.

Congrats fwcanoefisher! I am sure you will love it! I am a Marcum guy and just ordered a lithium shuttle for my LX7, so I am excited for first ice as well!

Excited for the season as well.  I got the fl8 last year n love it.   Put more fish on the ice then ever before.  I'm sure you'll fall in love with it.

My Vex was delivered yesterday.  I've already read the manual front to back and am ready to go!

I scored a Vexilar FL18 at a garage sale for $15. Didn't come with a ice ducer as the guy used it on his boat but I took the ducer off my FL8 and put it on. Ready to go.  ;D ;D

one of my favorite things about a flasher is searching.  MOST of the time you need not drill holes(or very shallow ones).  just dribble some water from a bottle.  have used spit many times as well.

 please don't attack me for spitting on the ice.   ;D
