I keep getting flack for wanting the cold weather to get here already, but I'm ready to put the big sticks away and get out on some ice.  Just found a decent enough deal on a new shanty and turned my old one into an ultralight/over-sized one man!

Do you mind sharing what deal you found on your shanty and if it is still available?

I won't say that I am "wanting" cold weather to be here already with the winter we had this year going well into April and the sun being away for most of it. But I definitely have the itch for getting onto some hardwater!
What doesn't sound fun about getting up hours before light, in the middle of winter, in sub-zero temperatures, dragging a bunch of stuff onto a frozen lake, drilling a bunch of holes through the ice, sitting down, staring into this tiny hole all day long before packing up, dragging the now-frozen stuff off the frozen lake, and going home?

Yeah I found this years Clam Voyager X Thermal with all the extras for around $850 on Bass Pro Shops website.  Googled bass pro coupons, found one for 10% off, they already had $50 off the normal price with free shipping.  They are just getting in all this years models so I'm sure someone could find something good if they looked.

I should add this was about 3 weeks ago so I'm not sure if the 10% off is still available.  I wasn't really expecting it, but found it with a little digging.  You can still get last years otter resort xt for $799.99 which is 200 off.  While I'm usually fishing with a buddy, this was a little too big for what I need.  But if you're looking for size and quality it's a good shelter to have.

Everyone is complaining and squirming with this cold weather and looking at me like im nuts as i have a little kid glint in my eye and smile on my face. No, im not excited about big sky or bridger bowl opening, im excited about the ice thats soon to be forming in the mountains!
It'll be here before we know it, and im sure I'll see some of you other hardwater addicts out there with me

8 inches of snow in town in bozeman today.  Guaranteed more in the mountains. Supposed to be in the teens tonight. Here comes that hardwater!

I'm assuming that means you have an elk tag for rifle season in the breaks. Sounds like a good time minus the summer heat. I'm so conflicted with this nice weather. I want to enjoy it, but I want the ice to form.

I bagged a bull this morning; now I'm ready for the ice. Stopped by Crooked Creek for a sneak peak. Of course there is no ice but boy that water sure looked cold   the way the waves were lapping the shoreline.

Congrats on filling the freezer, pictures are welcome :). Do you mind sending a bull my way  ;D Rergardless of getting any 4 legged critters in the freezer, I am ready for some hardwater.

We're going hunting up near Flaxville and they were -18 deg. this morning. They already have ice on some of the water. We're taking rods and augers, and probably some tip ups too! Here we go!

Thanks. We were able to fish over there last year during deer season. There's a little pond full of nice trout, and Whitetail Lake has pike and perch. We took tip ups too, and checked em mornings and evenings. It was a great way to start the season off in November!

Georgetown is making ice folks. Just drove by and edges are starting to show good ice possibilities. Lets all take a moment amd pray for a good cold front to come through and get it solid.
