Was that from yesterday?  I went out yesterday and found a pretty good bite as well.  In, four hours of fishing  I caught 10 specks, all over 9" with the biggest being 12.25".  One gill and one sunny, both between 8-9 inches and a 12 inch male perch.  I would have stayed all day but the ice was getting punky my 12:30.  It started sinking and the foot of snow on top, turned to six inches of slush, which made hard pulling on my jet sled.  All I know is we'll have a tasty dinner tomorrow night.  Congrats on your catch and enjoy!

Where is Elmira?  I'm from Caro in the thumb and never heard of it.  I'm assuming since your still on the ice, you are way north.  LOL

Elmira is west of Gaylord about 8 miles down M-32. We still have 12+ inches of ice up here.

Sweet, my cousin has a house on Otsego.  We deer hunt about fifteen miles north east of Vandy.  Just about two miles north east of the Ranger station on the river.  Thnx for the info!

My older brother has been hunting the river just north of the ranger station for about forty years, I've been going the last twenty.  There are eight of us that go every year and we have a blast.  Don't see many deer but we get away from the citiots!!!  LOL  And, one of us usually manages a very nice buck.

Very nice!  Actually, I had a VERY tough year on the gills.  I have to blame it on the weather.  I fished the same areas where I have caught fish for over twenty years and caught very few fish, in them.  Of course, I moved to all around the lakes I was fishing, and change tactics, jigs, bait, and only managed a few messes.  Oh well, hopefully the weather will straighten out and we will be able to get the boats out soooooon!  Again, nice mess of gills, congrats.
