Registration will begin at 9:00 am near the Deep Creek Lake State Park Discovery Center This event is free and open to the public. An adult needs to be on the ice with their kids at all times. This is not a drop off event & childcare will not be provided..

Bait will be provided and no equipment is necessary.There will be a hot lunch served, with hot chocolate, hot chili and hot dogs and or brats on hand. If you have any special dietary needs, please feel free to bring your own snacks. There will be an ice safety presentation following the registration. There will be a limit of 50 participants, so please preregister with <johnsteinbach1@verizon.net>

We will be fishing State Park Cove, one of Deep Creek Lake’s premier ice fishing hot spots. Targeted species will be Bluegills, Yellow Perch, Walleyes, Northern Pike, Trout and Crappies.

There will be hands on workshop stations covering the following:
1. Basic fishing techniques (tackle, jigs, bobbers, knots, bait, etc);

3. Basic jigging techniques;

Following the workshops, kids will be given the opportunity to put their newly learned skills to practice.

Take advantage of this unique opportunity to introduce children to the exciting sport of ice fishing. To preregister or to volunteer to teach a workshop, contact John Steinbach (johnsteinbach1@verizon.net) or call 703-822-3485. Please post this message widely.

The weather report for the week looks perfect for the kids fishing day this Saturday. If anyone has a hub style large shanty, we could use one for the cameras.
