West Virginia Northern Panhandle Ice Fishing Spots
« on: Jan 10, 2018, 12:13 PM »
If anyone is looking for some great ice fishing action, consider some of the small lakes around the Wheeling area. I've been on a couple of the them this week and did great on all of them. They are limited on the species available in them, mainly just bass and bluegills. Most of them will begin to be stocked in February with trout too. I was Bear Rock Lake yesterday for a two hours before dark and probably caught 100 bluegills. Many of them would be large enough to take home. Was fishing near a fallen tree in 12ft. of water. These lakes are very nice to fish with easy access.

I've done ok there. If you are looking for fast action on bluegills then Bear Rocks or Turkey run is the place. I'm sorry to say this but we probably won't be ice fishing much after the storm that coming. It will be getting cold again after it, so the ice should come back fine.
