Put that puppy in the pan and then go shop for a fiberglass replica of one about the same size. If you get one that even a little bigger that's not a crime.
We're born, we live for a while, and then we die.  Sounds like a good reason to go ice fishing.

I guess it depends if it was true gill or hybrid. I caught some big ones this year fly fishing a private pond. Guy said there ones a lot bigger in there then what I caught.
Congrats

12", whether it be a hybrid or not. A foot long specimen of either one would be equally awesome.

Just my 2 cents...take a pic and release those brutes.  They are the future of the fishery.  Harvest the smaller fish, the gene pool will be a lot more viable with the bigger fish still swimming.  Still, very nice gill, congrats! Early ice is the best ice!

I would say 11.5-12 for a true gill.  My biggest was 10.25 locallly.  Hybrid pushing 11.  I thought I had some 9.5's today and yesterday but biggest was 9.25 and that only a few of them.  Many 8" fish I thought were 8.5" but still a very good average for this small pond

Whatever you want to. A ten will look just as good on the wall as a 12.

I'm having this big red ear I caught this spring mounted.  He was 11 1/2".  It's the biggest one I'd ever seen and a great memory so I decided to get him mounted.

I'll be mounting this one. Just short of 12 with a girth of 11 3/4". Hoping to add another 10" or two this winter to mount with it.

dont think i would mount one, but if i did, it would probably have to be over 12.

Always thought 10+” bull gills with that bump in their foreheads would be kinda neat mounted on bookends.

Here are my green sunfish and bluegill caught a few years ago.  Both are over 14in.  But 10+ is probably a good mount. Both were caught in private ponds tho.....

Personally, I would have taken several decent pictures with measurements, released it, then I’d go shopping for a nice replica.
