Rutland state park
« on: Dec 28, 2017, 07:16 AM »
Hi guys, I am new to the area and looking to fish a couple days this long weekend. What would be the best pond to tryout? whitehall, Long, or demond pond? I have fished comet and it was a little slow.

thanks

Loaded question....seems Long and Demond are popular.  However fishing being what it is your results may vary.

Demond is loaded with pickeral.  Really good fishing when bite is on. Long pond has always been slow, but seen some nice bass outta there.

I remember going up the hill one rainy day with F.R.E.D. get to Demond and it was snowing hard! I think you were on Long with Keith that day.

Long tends to give good action and a variety of fish. Especially jigging

We hit both long and demons last year.   More flags at Demond.  More bass at long.   We jigged up a rainbow at long as well

Where is the best place to park for Demond? I only know of one spot which looks like it could fit maybe 3 cars

That’s the spot. Lol.

Someone might know a better spot...

Demond is worth it. Big bass/pickerel in there.

Hit whitehall Tuesday morning,  very few flags, couple pickerel, gils, and one small perch. Then hit long in afternoon, Jigged all over, picked up a few more gils, nothing but a few flags on the tilts. There where two of us. Demond has always had more action for us. Have to head up there next week!
