Clam Runners pulling in the snow?
« on: Nov 24, 2017, 10:16 PM »
Do they help (at all) with pulling a one-man flipover in the snow? I realize they are primarily for protecting the bottom of the tub, but I’ve read conflicting reports about their impact on pulling in the snow.

I know that lifting the tub on skis is the best for pulling, but I move around too much for that to be an option.

Thanks,
Mark

they do on my tubs and sleds i install them on. makes them quieter also. most noticeably easier to pull in slush. after a certain amount of snow, then they don't make any difference, say a few inches.

never had too much trouble pulling a one man.  the frozen slush deal is about the only problem i run into.

I put runner kits on all my houses. on bare ice they save on the wear of the tub and when the snow gets over a certain depth they help the house track better when pulling. also regardless of having runners or not I find that using some type of pulling harness help make pulling easier. it spreads the weight out over your whole body and not just into your hand.

I use snowmobile ski's with ski skins. Welded a lite weight frame together and put all my gear in an old car top carrier. Latches shut so no more worries about lost gear. The ski's float the whole load over the snow. And the skins make it glide. It will over take you on a down slope! I almost went for a ride on the side of a reservoir one day!

May ol man winter blow a cool breeze up your shorts!
