Went fishing last night the guys next to caught a surprize

Guys we were next to last night caught a surprize wile fishing  for white fish.. they caught and released a fesh water cod also know as elpout and or burbot. We're we were fishing last night will remain classified... but nice seeing we were in the right location cause it's a cold water/ deep water fish.. just like what we were after.. any how elpout invasion of michigan has begun..lol's

Congratulations! Burbot are fantastic eating fish.

Torch, Elk, Crystal and most other large lakes up north contain fishable populations of Burbot.

They have quite a following and many ice fishermen target them specifically.

We catch lots of them, never one that small though. Its the middle of winter and the water is cold everywhere in the column, you will find cold-water species like whitefish, lake trout and burbot at all depths. We catch all of those species in single-digit depths, in winter and early spring.

... we find them in 90-60 fow. only caught a few that small.. Couple more weeks and I'll be chasing them slimy things.....

Nope shore fishing that why the spot on the detroit river will remain name less..

Ahh i see. Wasn't looking for a spot, still busy ice fishing up here. The pic just didn't look like a boat or on ice.

Ya board walk along detroit river is the cement under it.. it's a huge board walk is why it don't matter saying detroit river but if said street you would find it.. lol's

Yeah i am familiar with the river walk there. Up around here we like to fish some of the river walks and below the hydro power plant dams for the deep cold currents that produce great fishing at the right times.
