hinges for bottom of foldable ice hut????
« on: Feb 11, 2006, 05:08 PM »
I have no Clue, what do I put on the bottom of the hut so it does not colapse on us, I can not find hinges that would do, I want a 90' degree for the hinge, or what do you use for the bottom so that it stays up.

Just use a regular hinge or a door hinge. The tarp or whatever outside material you use will keep it from folding out too much. You will have to put some sort of brace on the inside to hold it out. I made brackets and use a 2x3 accross the top. It gets wedged across the top and I put a few hooks in it to hold a lantern, coats, etc. Hope this helps.

Put your ridge brace in and use drywall screws  in the ends to hold it solid until you staple the tarp on, then take the screws back out.
