Wow that looks like the pike I am going to catch on Sunday  ;D

But on the nonimaginery side.  That was a beauty of a fish and they portrayed excellent CNR skills it was good to see that people actually care nowadays !!!1111

To bad....I dont see the point in caring for a pike. I thought it woulda been nicer if he caught it and left it on the ice. Than again, maybe thats a big game fish where they are fishing. IMHO, if I catch pike, they are eagle food.

Most lakes with good brook trout fishing don't have pike anyway.  So it's a non-issue.  If you hate pike that much, go fish a brookie pond.  Don't fish the lakes with pike in them.  That way everyone is happy - it's a big state.

I guess I don't understand why anyone would want to kill off a fish that provides so many people throughout the country with a fun day on the ice. PIKE ARE FUN TO CATCH. PIKE ARE GOOD TO EAT. Also, who in the hell does anyone think they are to waste a fish...any fish.. by killing it for no reason and leaving it to rot? Don't give me the birds bullcrap..that is not a good reason. If you kill a human and throw him/her on the ice hell yeah something will eat it and benefit from it. Still not a good idea. Pike are a fish just like a trout is a fish and they deserve to live just like anything else. If I saw someone catch a fish and throw it on the ice to rot I would be really pi**ed (is that better?). My .02 and my rant. I'm sure I'll have ten people pissed at me in an hour but I really don't care anymore

You know I was at Jims Bait the other day and we were having this same conversation. Why do we fish Sabbattus and the other pike lakes in Maine? To Catch Pike right.... So what the hell is the point in throwing them on the Ice if that is what the lake is about.. Now If you catch a Pike on Sebago or Kezar I totally understand why you would throw it on the ice but for god sakes be a sportsman and respect other fisherman who are targeting those fish in the lakes they have already become established..
Ice fishing is Gods gift to winter...

I don't need a smoke. I'm ok. ;D

Why throw it on the ice though? Aren't there people..families, elderly that could use these fish? People do it because they are full of hate for the fish. I just don't fricken get it. ::)

They read that they were illegally introduced and decimate the trout.  I say if their there, their there.  If they breed in these waters, the babies are natives... :P ;D ;)

In my mind the Stocking in maine is down right poor considering its neighboring states.  If the state spent more money on stocking then I could see your point on the Pike fishing.  Until then pike are a good game fish and put up and excellent fight through the ice or on the reel.  I dont remember the last time I caught a brookie and heard my dragging screaming  :callcops:

If I caught one on Sebago or another salmon water where they have recently been introduced, I'd kill it too.
But I'd eat it,  ;D not just leave it.

Great Video!!!!!!

I can't wait to toss a fly after those this spring. ;D

Myself and a small group of fly anglers would love to see more toothy critter waters like sabuttus.

Hell, we've never gotten the management of brookies and salmon right, the state should just go with what's easy and economical.

This is coming from someone that used to chase trout 150+ days a year with a fly rod. :o

If you're going to kill them, eat them. I do wish more of you would eat them though. Hmmmm, tuna, maybe if the Japanese started paying big bucks for them pike..........

the attitude in Maine on this topic is unbelievable........ignorant SOB's
...oops

The way I see it, the ignorant SOB's are the ones who are stocking these "beauties"; you cant sit here, in maine, and bash people for not liking pike.  If you like them so much then go somewhere where they get REALLY big...

nice video...

The problem is there won't be any salmon or trout ponds left if we keep promoting pike fishing. We need a mechanism to stop people from moving them around!!
