So what's is our best guesstimate on when first ice will be here??

Lots of ponds and small lakes skimmed over between Kent County and Newaygo yesterday. If we get the single digit temps next week that there calling for it won't be long

It's a fishing buddys spots so I'll have to be tight lipped about it.

.              Looking at the temps I don't think anything is gonna melt but that would be nice

 I found about 4 inches of ice on a small lake by me. 50 foot or so from shore the snow starts and ice drops off. We have about 20 inches of snow now as the lake effect band has been sitting on top of us since Sat morning

36 on Saturday with some rain snow mix. This  would be the melting I was referring to.

That might melt a half inch of snow unless we get 2" rain!!  We have gotten around 10" snow here, checked a lake and at shore was about 3" slush there, not good!!

I hope any ice we have gets destroyed by this snow and starts fresh.. It's a pretty heavy snow, here anyway..

Looks like a pretty good warming trend starting Saturday into next week...Day times temps in upper 30s...Hopefully it gets cold enough at night to make ice, I want to get out between Christmas and New years....Be safe...

Made it out Saturday and things went to plan....a Limit at Limit lake in 2 hours. Everthing worked well including my spud that found some bad ice trying to get to where i really wanted to go. So i backed up and drilled about 6 holes and started fishing. I fished two of those holes to catch my limit, it was a blessed day.
