As a teenager growing up in North Dakota I will never forget fishing on the hot perch lake in early season. The large lake served as a sort cut from the reservation to a local community. There would be an occasional vehicle driving way to fast full of people passing near where we fished. One car in particular (an old Buick) full of people wandered off the driven path and hit an Ice heave that sent this car flying like the dukes of hazard. The car did a nose dive into the ice and stuck like an arrow. The doors opened up and the intoxicated driver and passenger climbed out and got into the back of a pick up truck leaving the car to sink. We spent the day watching the car slowly sink into the ice until it was gone. We told the Bait shop owner who called the Game & Fish department so that the car wouldn’t be left in the lake.
