My Barton's Cove check list. Seriously if you see some big guy that just showed up in a black Ram trying to find the ice any help would be greatly appreciated

1   Commit to first IS Finantics Bartons Cove Gathering
2   Fix all the birds nests on tip ups from last trip which the big fish were lost on
3   Organize gear so it looks like you have a clue on how to ice fish
4   Gain the confidence level at least I'll look good while getting skunked
5   Check all braid knots to the swivel and flouro
6   Stretch flouro leaders again, it is just fun to do, not needed mind you
7   Put a fresh coat of black sharpie on split shot weights. It is not needed but makes you feel cool.
8   Cut off all hooks and re-tie. Those massive 5-6" perch from last trip messed up the leaders
9   Take broken chair out of the truck that I brought for the last trip
10   Pack chair that works
11   Charge batteries for augur
12   Charge Deeper Water sonar
13   Charge battery charger since it is going to be so cold Deeper Water will probably die quick
14   Get off my ass and go buy the biggest heavies I can
15   Talk local bait shop guy into stocking suckers, his idea btw
16   Figure out how to tell wife I am going fishing……….. No check here…….
17   Hide the trash so I can tell wife that yes, I did go to the dump already
18   Get new stanley coffee thermos ready for coffee
19   Set alarm for 3 AM since at my age it'll take 45 minutes to find my truck in the dark

Just left the cove. Talked with spanky and his sister and they were checking ice then headed out to procure lodging. Team tip-up and son showed as well as Bait bucket to do some night fishing.

You can't make this stuff up. She came home about 20 minutes ago and I let here know last weeks trip was postponed and I am going tomorrow..... Yep, first question was are you going to the dump before you go.....Ummmm...... No.......

Not going to make it tomorrow this is my weekend on at work. On a side note I got the intake manifold off my stepsons car today at work

, hopefully tomorrow I will have it running again.

Yup, was over a foot long. The hole in the pic is 6in. Got it on the jig rod.

Unfortunately, I won't be making it up there. I fell sick the beginning of this week and still not recovered. Got the bait, loaded the car last night hoping I will feel better this morning. Was still coughing and sneezing while getting ready. Decided to stay back and not worsen my condition or spread the germs. Bummed about it but was the safe choice I think. Now glued to the forum waiting for the pics! Good luck guys!!!

Is that legal? We caught one on our chum bag fishing the ct for stripers at night. Thought about throwing it on the hook but thought i remembered it being endangered. Was the right choice for us a we got a 27 pounder on an eel that night.

Well folks, that was a rough one. I don't care who you are, that was some rough stuff out there. And the slow fishing didn't help. For the first time we went without a pike. There was one nice 'Eye landed by a crew from I believe Conn. (picture bellow) who braved it out over night a few bass some pickeral (including one nice one) and a bunch of pan fish. One of the locals also landed a serious dinner plate Crappie.

To all those who braved it today, I hardily salute you! Just making the day was victory regardless of the catch.
