I'll let him add the story about this great bird. I'm just helping post them up. Whoops!, he gave away his hotspot in the first one. Bare with me this will take a few minutes. 44

Salty who would you contact to find out more about the bands on this bird? May be able to find out how old he(she) is or where it was hatched.

Seems you can email mdifw with a pic, best if the markings on the band can be seen.

This eagle was banded in Maine silver band, The red band means he was banded in New York,  Joefishmore fed this bird on Big Sebago a couple of days ago .No one fed him on Sebago so he came over for some W.Perch  probably 10 miles as the Crow flies. I have had contact with this bird now for 3 years. He ate one 12" fish and two 8" perch before he left. Its days like these that making sitting over a jig stick special. Thanks Guys for sharing with all.

On Sebago today....good ice....melting along the shore....fed the eagle another Togue..
Found what appeared to be a large smelt , 8 inches or so, in the digestive system of one of
our togue. Maybe someone was using them for bait in the last day or so.

Woodchip is quite the photographer. Here's a photo from his camp of the mountain.

Beautiful pictures for sure. He looks like he follows you around woodchip
May God bless and keep you always, may your wishes all come true.
May you always do for others and let others do for you.
May you build a ladder to the stars and climb on every rung,
May your hands always be busy, may your feet always be swift.
May you have a strong foundation when the winds of changes shift.
May your heart always be joyful, may your songs always be sung.
May you stay forever young.

I read that Woodchip knows from band ciolor that the eagle was banded in Maine and in NY. If he knows the nest location(s) used by that eagle, he could call the closest IFW regional office with the nest location, and they may be able to tell him when & where that eagle was banded. Possibly one band would have been when it was a young-of-the- year eagle which would provide its age. If the closest regional office is in Gray, call 657-2345 and ask for the wildlife biologist. Good luck!

He sure does. Those talons are sharper than ice picks on a snowmobile. He may not have "4-wheel drive", but he doesn't spin when travelling on the ice!

I think he likes me better.
I feed him bigger fish.
And togue don't have all those undigestable scales that white perch do.

I've done a little volunteer work at the Maine Wildlife Park and have been able to get up-close and personal with a bald eagle, you can't describe how strong those birds are, and until you've been that close you don't realize how big they really are, they are an amazing bird !!!
