GPS Help
« on: Jan 10, 2006, 08:10 AM »
I have a Lowrance H2O gps.  So far it works great for me but all I am doing is marking my spots on the lake on it.  I mainly just use my gps for fishing.  But I see you can buy Mapcreate software and software called Fishing Hot Spots Elite.

What do these do?  I have the lakes on my gps but it is just he body of water.  Does the software mentioned above show depths and contours of the lakes?  Basically, what is this software and how is it different from what I already have preloaded?   ???

Thanks

I have the hot spots mapsource software and it shows depths and spots that locals like to fish, I think the bluechart software has more information on depths.

Exactly...The GPS units are loaded with basic data...If you want percise data you need to buy the software geared to your use...The Lakes and Hot spots software should give you the same info a topo map would....Just make sure the software you buy will cover the lakes you fish....Garmin has their software seperated by region...
