Jaw Jacker?
« on: Jan 25, 2015, 07:06 PM »
A friend and I were fishing Raquette lake  and we were approached by a Forest Ranger on sled. We knew the ranger and he ckd out our gear and noticed we were getting ready to set up our jaw jackers. He asked if we were going to be using them?  We informed him that we were. Here's were the story gets weird, He informed us that our jaw jackers couldn't be used with a jigging rod. He told us that they are considered a tip up.  We asked him what the difference was between a jaw jacker and a tip down device, both notify you that you have a potential fish, right? Then we asked if your allowed 3 hand lines what difference does it make how you use them , there are no flags on them so it cant be considered a mechanical device. He went on to tell us that New York is considering jaw jackers as a tip up and that if anyone else ckd us that we might get a ticket. Has any one else heard of this? ???????

Yes. Jaw jackers are considered a tip-up device under our fishing laws. Lots of threads about that on here.  ;D
