Grand Mere State Park
« on: Jan 25, 2015, 11:54 AM »
Does anyone in the Michiana area ever fish the lakes in Grand Mere State Park. Never really even thought about fishing there until recently. I know the lakes are fairly shallow and weedy, have to believe there are some hills and possibly a few pike in there. I looked at the DNR site this morning but doesn't really give any info on there.

It's that shallow and weedy! Haven't ice fished in yrs! We used to locate open spots in the fall then fish the in the winter! If you fish north lake, go left off the launch and put tip-ups towards the west corner!
Tight lines...fish on!!

Beware of the channel between the Middle and North Lake.  Found out it is 5 ft deep.  Hardly anyone fishes this lake but know it used to have some big pike in it.

There are some gills in there, but not much for size. I live just a couple miles from there and I won't waste my time fishing there. If I wanted to fish local I'd head out to either Hess or Singer out by Baroda. At least there are some better sized gills in there. Now if you wanted to Pike fish, there are some nice ones in there.
