If you come to the Derby on Loomis a week from Saturday I'll show you my range of sizes as far as flies go. I build them from size 10 hooks down to size 14 hooks. On the size 10 hooks I use a brass hourglass type of weight. It's the smallest of these weights. The size 10 hook is about as big as I would want to use and the larger hooks would be the ones you use for making snelled hooks, the eye is turned up. I've made some really nice flies with these and I'm looking forward to handing them out to the kids at the derbies. And if I were to fish deeper water, say down to 20 feet, maybe a lil more, this jig/fly would be the one I'd want. Sorry, I don't have the capability to show pics, yet. I'm hoping to solve that in a couple of weeks when I get with the Friends of Fishing group when we have our derby the 24th.
You willing to trade a few for cash offerings?.. besides what you are setting aside for the kids OF COURSE. LOL. i may have to show just for the fun it all anyways. I know friends kid would enjoy the derby actually. Sounds like a plan already!!
Well I have to decline any offering and say I'm sorry. All the lures, flies, and jigs I'm putting together are just for the kids, unless I like one then it goes into my box LOL. I'm going to put these words on the box for the flies, " Jigs for Kids- Dads Drool" LOL. I'm also going to be handing out some spoon type lures I just brain stormed today. I have a feeling these things just might do the trick for perch and walleye if used right. So bring your drool towel LOL. I have been known to take pity on adults LOL My late wife taught me how to be compassionate.
