And I thought limburger cheese was the best for keeping not only catches fish but chases the other fishermen away

I've never used it to fish with, but my Dad has quite a bit. I can't say I could tell that he had an advantage by using it. Most of the time I think it is just a mental game...Like your favorite lure, favorite color, favorite fishing hole.

My Grandpa swore by it too. Gave his nightcrawler a squirt and a spit of plug tobacco juice every time.

  • Ice fishing a sport, or just reason to buy stuff?

I just hate to see "sportsmen" being all interested in promoting the future of fishing by hosing down their lures with a hydrocarbon-petroleum product.   Nice going guys.  Try corn, it will be legal on Jan. first.

If I remember correctly, we have had the WD40 discussion for the past 7 years I have been on the list.

Has anyone tried the new WD40 spray with the "Smart Straw"?  Flip it up , give it a squirt and flip it down...  Pin point accuracy ..    ;)     @) @) @) @) @)

I'm just worried no one is going to chime in and tell us all about how Preparation H works, too...

A JOKE, WHAT THE FRIK?
Sorry Joe.  ;)

No feathers ruffled here... the real joke is the people who actually use this stuff for fishing.
Using that stuff has never even crossed my mind. Although some people swear by it, I prefer my bait to be "natural"

the new formula isn't as good as the old school yellow can.it contained whale oil which is now illegal to harvest?we sprayed it till our sunglasses fogged up. it smells awfull good to boot, lol.maybe it was the water displacement properties? maybe added action to the lure?just sayin

Jopes, could I send you a couple dozen of tube jigs to soak in your 55 gallon drum of WD 40 so they will have plenty of scent on them when we finally get some ice on Flaming Gorge and Fontenelle? That way I won't have to use any sucker meat!

I used to prefer good ol Copenhagen snuff spit, but since I quit Ive found that Nicotine gum (juicy fruit flavor) is actually just as effective!

Not a chance in hell that Nicotine gum is effective as the real deal!  I refuse to believe that!

One of the true joys of my life was sitting on the bank of Rock creek on my dads  farm with my grand dad. He would spit chew on his an my worm before we put them in a hole under the bridge.   I mostly caught chubs and suckers with my willow pole but they were trophy's to me.  He had a extending mettle pole with a shakespear level wind real.   It was when I was 6-9 years old, and he died that summer.  I was 11 before I ever had a real rod and reel that I bought from money I earned from selling milk and cream.  It was a zebco 202 rod/reel combo and cost $1.00 total.
