Ice Fishing WARM clothing
« on: Nov 17, 2014, 02:17 PM »
Hi, I'm new here, and am looking for info on Ice fishing Parka & Bibs. FXR Hardware is advertising their set as durable and warm, also jacket has some floatation. Anyone have any comments. The new Frabill one is not supposed to be as good as the old?????

I can't speak for the new Frabill suits but I have a SnoSuit I just picked up last year and am tickled with how well it works. I had an Arctic Armor suit before that for several years the only downfall with that one is the sweating that comes with being an active fisherman. The nice thing is they aren't the only float suits on the market and the others seem to be a little nicer. My buddy has a striker ice suit and it is just as good of quality as my SnoSuit.

being warm out there is important of course, but any of the modern ice suits is probably gonna do a good job with that. To me, the more important thing is floatation. If I was gonna spend the cash and buy a brandy new ice suit, it would need to have built in floatation. JMHO

Thank you for your input, I'm from Manitoba, and a lot of these suits are imported therefore duty and customs comes into play.

Just about any decent snowmobile suit will keep you warm. I suggest you get a floater type for that extra measure of safety, if that's within your budget.
