today, march 31st. haven't made it to april yet although I know I could this year, the gear has already been put away due to that very bad 4 letter word that begins with a "w" and ends with a "k.'.. I am already looking forward to icing some pike next season, cheers to another great season!!!

I am planning on one final trip on April 5th somewhere in the Adirondacks. That way I will set my own personal record for ice fishing the most consecutive months (6) this year. I started in late November last fall.

My last day of ice fishing was today,April 2nd.The Canadian ice breaker came through the Thousand Islands last Friday to clear the shipping channel.The ice is still 30 inches thick in most places but is starting to get sketchy from the shore to about 100 yards out.Conditions are good early morning if things were cold the night before but the ice gets spongy in the afternoon so I'm done until next winter.Between yesterday and this morning,I managed to catch thirty pounds of perch.Time to take a break now.

My favorite place in clinton county for perch (cant say where). have never been this late and have never gone even close to as much in a winter like i did this season. havent fished for perch since mid january i targeted pike and crappie most the winter and fished with tip ups alot. and havent hit the ice since march 1st  :'( but last day will be April 6th!

I am totally chompin' at the bit to get on the ice tomorrow for my final weekend. This season totally rocked man !

If prchslyr sends me enough messages about safe ice after April 6, I might need to revise my last trip date.

How many of you think the way I do -  I would NEVER live in a place that did not have ice fishing within a few hours drive. No job in Texas or Florida could ever offer me enough money to move.

Hit Chautauqua Lake on April 1.  Thought about trying the end of the week and have thought better of it.  Caught lots of gills and perch in Mayville.

Another one down, this time a Rio Grande turkey in Kansas. When you fish for a living other activities, like hunting, are a lot more fun. And I'm well aware that you can hunt turkeys in NY in May, I will be out, as usual. ;)

Wow, that is a huge bird JJ, and I hear you about the thing that you make a living at. People think my job is way cooler than it actually is. I guess I am lucky because fishing is purely a hobby - although when I am cleaning pike, perch and crappies after a good trip for 4 hours, it does seem like a job then  ::)
