Nick's fishing- 12/18

Fished at a community park today from 1:30-till 2:45 or 3


Started off in 4 FOW and kept drilling and setting tip-ups along the way- as well as checking depths- got 6 holes in the water and found 5.5-6.5in in eveyr hole (ice). While i was drilling the last hole(the last two were for jigging) and my partner was setting up the 4th and final tipup we got a flag on the first hole in 4feet of water- 3 pound test leader- lost a nice stocked rianbow at the hole.... not a good way to start off. Set it up and had a "ghost" flag  (same tip up and hole) 2 mins into jigging. I got the first fish- a suprising 12in yellow perch in 9 FOW- after this fish we ahd a 10 minute dry spell so i left the pole on the bucket and drilled out 4 more holes in a nice spread- i  shifted the 2nd and third tip-up to deeper water and during this my partner caught a 10in and 2 dink perch. FLAG on the first hole- run over to find a perch of 6in or less.... not cool. Drilled 2 more holes and found a good sunny spot- got 2 5in sunnys and got bored- tended the tip ups. My partner got bored with his "hot hole" and came and drilled one 5 feet frome me and found a NICE school of big sunnys- he got 5 nice ones from 6-7or8in. Good day with lots of fun, I will be fishing at least one other day soon, after school this week maybe. Had the pick's anfd rope ready just in case  8).

Yeah, it's always great to be out on the ice. Nice going with the perch and sunfish.

Me too, woulda made a killer first iced fish ever... 18in (maybe less)- its gonna haunt me tonite


Il be out again- the sound of that flag springing jsut made me so happy

Every time I see that pic it makes me laugh, coldbum.  Nice first ice fish, nick.  Ya gotta start somewhere!
