where to fish crappie?

i'm wanting to go fishing for crappie today since the weather is permitting me to do so, i'm in the kingston ontario area and am looking for crappie. i was told i can get them in loughborough lake? what part? i trying fishing for crappie off dog lake at the shipyard by the white perma hut and had no luck where should i be fishing these fish and at what depth, i have been using small jig heads with small mud minnows and wax worms but nothiing yet, please help a fisherman out. thanks

I am not familiar with your area but the game is the same.  If you know there are crappies in the lake look for deep holes with soft bottom leading into bays were the crappies spawn.  February till the end of the year should be good times to catch this species.  If the lake has stained water bright days will improve your catch.  Minnows, grubs and plastic do the job.  I try to always fish above crappies and make them chase up. A Vexilar is a must when fishing this species.  Hope this helps
