A fellow wisherman told me a tale today.   Used the words 'jumbo crappies' in the same sentence.   ;)

Is there a good link that could be posted on the submerged piles in that area?  I'm about to run of to the Iowa DNR website and look but I have doubts I'll find anything. I too am headed there tomorrow (first timer)and will post my trip log.

Thanks in advance!!

Buddy and i fished from sun up to sun dwn. and boy howdy the wind was a beast today had all six anchors out in the quick 3. BEWARE there is a 1/4 mile heave/pressure bulge with open water around it and ill bet the wind made it bigger today looked like a river in some spots , could be other spots i guess but it was plenty thick where we walked. Jumbo crappies you say? not in our bucket   :-\  we caught a dozen crappie  the jumbo was 11 inch

Was there also today, the bite was slow for us and the several groups we talked to. Lots of people out today but the majority had packed up and left by noon.

It is one thing to limit on good size fish, its a whole different story  to limit and have kept everything you caught, which is what I have seen and heard, alot of 4-6" fish being  kept in those limits...

Took the day off work to hit it before the snow storm hit. Lots of small fish but kept 5 keepers 10 to 12 inches. Water is getting very dirty/murky in places.

is the white breast park boat ramp (i.e. the federal one) open to access the area? they shut all the federal accesses down on saylorville so I assumed as much for red rock.

This a dead head & brushpile a little south of where people are putting in at. Look for a large rock outcropping south of the point up high on the bank. Located in 10 fow. The next photo is south some more around a small cut in the bank.

That doesn't dead head has been there for 200 years. The brush around it is still there.  The vertical fishing anchor dragging non fish catching bozos might have moved the others around but it's there, too.

I'm betting somebody went to a lot of work to to set up the brushpiles, which I'd guess wasn't limited to: decades of research, hours and hours of hard labor during inclement weather, wear and tear on equipment, and I bet ranger ricky would of pulled his pen out, too. So now you have several groups competing to  fish these spots and it looks like now they might to compete with more groups. I can only see the positives in this, it will create more and more and more brush piles that I can find with my advanced marine electronics; mark the spots on my GPS and be able to expand my already extensive knowledge of Lake Red Rock. I've found that these piles tend to migrate from one side of the bay to the other, hint south of the giant rock bluff. Good luck peeps and keep the reports coming
