6 inch It gonna take a lot more effort to use the 8 inch. The only time I have had problems is when the crappies get about 13 inches or bigger. Those tend to get stuck in the hole.

6 inch so much easier by hand.I have both and since i bought the 6 dont even think of ever taking the 8 out again. Unless your fishing for real big fish then 8.

If I'm sight fishing for panfish I like the 8" hole. Much easier to see down. But then I drill two holes, one in front of the other. Fish in the far one and look down the near one. Don't have to do much bending over. If I'm fishing for panfish where I can't sight fish I use my 4.5" Nils.

How big were they because I pulled a 40" 22 pounder through a 6" hole( released it through the same hole also) I've also pulled 40" pike through the same hole, yes I'm sure it would've been easier with a 8" but the difference in effort between a 6 and 8 is so much it's not worth it for me

king  thats  not  true   crappie  fishing  lots  of times  the  mouths  rip  or  you lose  them in  a  hole  in  a  6  or  8 inch  hole  they  turn  and  are  gone  in  a  5inch  a  slap  can't  turn  east  and  you  can  reach  and  pull them  out   ....  the  old  4 1/2  tonakas   were  even  better    for  that  reason
