We have the discussion about gasholes on Oneida Lake every year. I thought I would start a thread and ask that anyone that has GPS coordinates for known gasholes post them here.

I have a couple marked on my GPS, I will post them when I get home.

Small gas hole as I reported on "oneida lake diehards" page.  N 43 14.149'    W 76 06.363'     South east of grren marker buoy 135. Very small gas hole. Area around this way point had honeycomb/ white ice with very little black ice.

I am bumping this one back up since we are back on the ice.

Here is a video that Budman made where he spudded a hole right on a gas pocket.

Do the gas pocket need to be released by anglers frequently? And are we to check them only to gauge the size of gas build up?

They are not normally something you want to walk up to and poke around. They erode the ice away from underneath. I think Budman just happened upon that one.

Thanks for putting this up RG. I will compile the coords that I saved from last year and put them back up here.

I went and removed all of my gas hole locations from last year on the navionics app.
Last thing I'd hate to see is someone try to avoid one that's not there anymore and find one that isn't marked.
I'll place them in the app for this year as people make me aware of them.I'll check back here or you can PM the coords.
to me and I'll add the locations.

Do you mean how to add gas hole locations or how to see the ones already marked.I removed all the old ones because I didn't want someone to find one by mistake when avoiding a marked one from last year that's no longer there

Is there a way to see the ones other have already marked? Like share an overlay in the app so that we can share information on gas holes, pressure cracks and other such information?

I haven't added any yet this season.I did see a post with coordinates for a pressure crack. So I'll add that one now.Last year was the 1st time I used the app.So they 1st few I marked on there were like little red circles. Then I started to use a blue pin tack icon(options for icons are a bit limited).in any case you should be able to see it on your app if you update your map when you open the app.

I have added all of the GPS coordinates that I have to the Navionics App. I think you need to turn on Community Edits to see them.

I went to each point and added a pin marker. Now they show up nice and large on my map.Only took a few minutes and was well worth the time. Before that I had to zoom in pretty close to see them too.Even with the easy view setting turned on.
