Read an article from In-Fisherman that said CT stocked about 200 surplus breeder browns in about a dozen lakes, for ice fishing season. They range from 3-19 pounds! Some of the lakes are Beach, Mashapaug, West Hill, West Side, Stillwater, Tyler, Mohawk, and Squantz. Better get a 10" auger!!
i caught one of those seeforellen browns in ny years ago and it was a cool fish---and my 1st fish ever through the ice---5lbs
A guy got a 13 pound brown out of Beach Pond a few weeks ago. Look up the DEEP fishing report from Oct. 31st for the list and numbers that were stocked.
a 17LBer at Squantz in the fall also.....these fish are hatchery fish though...do not get me wrong still fun and special. Fun is why we do this right... but the actual fish is nothing like the big browns that have acclimated to some selected lakes and are growing as we converse...Sqauntz, Candlewood, Saugy, Twin and others hold pristine browns with fat bellies. The new state record brown caught at the Saugy was a holdover from a small stocky making it a bit more special in my humble opinion.......Agree on Twin...has been decimated...nothing compared to the glory days of the late 90's.
