Anyone know who the meatball was fishing in the Bay yesterday?

Not only is that ice sketchy as hell, but we all know the lake is off limits till the 1st....
Life is good!

I drove by there Friday on the way to fish.....couldn't pay me to go out there!!...even if it was legal....looked like you could kayak from the pavilion to the shore.  What a Richard Cranium.

Not everyone reads the rules or regs I guess.  Sorta reminds me of last season when I was walking past a guy holding up a salmon yelling at his buddy that he just landed his personal best brown trout.  I said "hey there, fella.....that's no brown you have in your hands".  He says "I'm 90% sure it is but whatever it is, it's a trout and will be good in my frying pan".  I explained the regs to him and helped him identify future salmon  ::)

I have done the same thing half a dozen times, its almost always novice inexperience. Likewise- I just give them a little guidance on the regs and fish ID, and wish them good luck.

Reminds me of 3 yrs ago while fishing the derby in winter harbor area.  F&G pulled up to my group and was checking licenses when
a guy fishing about 50 yds from us started yelling over to us that he just caught a huge brown   ??? The warden said to us " I better go over and check  that seeing there are no browns In winni.  Sure enough it was a salmon and the dude got a citation.  Ended up getting a fine and suspension.

Even I know there's no browns in lake winni and that the salmon lakes open up jan 1st and there's 2 lines a person!  Come on! If your gona fish you need to know the regs!
That person can get screwed big time

3-4 years ago during derby on the bay a guy caught a salmon and thought it was a brown and hung it on his shack, many people told him it was a salmon and he could get in trouble. finally he took it inside and cooked it and ate it. derby is great entertainment at times.

I think you mean "stupidity" is sometimes great entertainment up at the derby. LOL

i made that mistake when i was about 10 years old on a salmon. I was very unexperienced to big lake fishing. I even brought it to the board. The fish and game officer gave me a look and i knew i did something wrong. Thankfully i had just caught the fish and we took it over to a hole and the fish swam away(after being out of the water 20 plus minutes). He gave me some pointers and a flyer explaining the difference. Looking back i dont know how i thought it was anything else, but thankfully he let me off with a warning!

Can they issue a fine to a 10 year old??? They can't take their license, you wouldn't of had one.
