Nils hand auger?

I have an 8" Nils hand auger.  I know they also have a power auger.  My question is can I just buy a power head for the one I have or do I need to buy the whole new auger?

From anything I have read you can buy just the power head .

Hummmm....I'm not sure about that area. I know my local tackle shop sells them (Dattilios 802-862-5516). Blaine (a member of this site) sells then in CT as well. Those guys might be willing to ship you one. I'm pretty sure you can get them mail order as well. Call Nils Master and ask who sells them in your area.

No idea. Best bet is to call and get a price. I'll ask next time I'm down to the shop as well.

I wish I could put a power head on my Nils. Its an older style, my parents won it as a door prize sometime in the 80s. 8 inch holes and cuts ice like a hot knife in butter. Here are some pics of this antique. A friend gave me a Tanaka Engine Drill, I am going to get a chuck machined to fit on it and I should be all set.

I thought the handle on the new ones  screws in on the top of the auger. THat way a powerhead could fit on it.
