Good to hear slush has got a little better out there, might have to go give it a try.

Hows the fishing been out there anyone doing any good?

How is the fishing on the humps lately? It's been slow on the bootjack side.

That's a very nice walleye.  I take it they won with that, yes?

Unfortunately the tournament didn't include walleye... it used to but nobody has caught any out of there in so long that they took those out of the tourny... definitely would have though

With the amount of big walleye being caught this year, I'm surprised they didn't put the category back into the mix.

Sounds like it was held and our own Chase Palosaari and his fishing partnertook 2nd and 1st respectively with their walleye.  I heard something like only 80 people went out to play when last year it was 300.  Too bad the weather didn't cooperate.

Yes, it was definitely held. Very few fish caught and very cold. Only 3 walleye and 6 northerns entered (5 spots placed for each).

Yes very tough fishing. Tip ups were restricted cause of the wind. Even the other seasoned walleye vets out there said no bites or marking very few. Guess me and my buddy got lucky with 1st and 2nd fishin from the same shack. These fish wouldn't have even placed last year. Except for another friend of mine that battled the conditions and caught a 17# pike for an easy first place!

No slush. Just some snow on top but not terrible.

Patchy slush up to three inches in places, but the snow is crusty enough that you can walk around fine without snowshoes. By the time we picked up our shanty on saturday, we had to chisel it out and water was 2 inches deep in the bottom.

Don't feel too bad for missing it. Absolutely miserable conditions, especially in portables. I couldn't even get on the lake until mid day because of road conditions on bootjack side. Managed one hit on a tip-up, a really big pike that got off.  The slow bite continued into today.

That's funny you mentioned grilling...I tried to grill up some venison steaks for lunch on the ice. Even after building a huge wall as a wind shield, I still couldn't get a propane grill to light with the wind and snow...

How has everyone been doing? I have picking up a few nice eyes on some days, others I don't even mark anything. Last night I only caught a sucker, of all things. Definetly a first for me through the ice.

Have been fishing the evenings for a couple of hours and much like you, it's been hit or miss.  Night before last, nothing on the electronics for the most part.   Last night, a different story.
