Top Ten go- to Panfish Jigs
« on: Nov 22, 2005, 09:18 PM »
What would be your top ten most productive panfish jigs? I'm looking to stock up for this season and want to know what to order or buy.

Last season my go-to's were marmish jigs

1) maggot
2) ant
3) larva

This year I purchased a whack of ratsos, shrimpos, purest and other finese plastics and I cant wait to give them a go.

Hey BigRed where do you buy those wolfram jigs. I looked them up on http://www.yourbobbersdown.com/Order%20handpainted.htm they look sweet, the new models are very simialr to marmish jigs.

$2 per jig? Are they made with platinum hooks?

only two bucks.that's still cheap.I pay up to 4 for really nice ones i buy from www.nisid.com.If a lose a couple jigs during the season i don't consider it as a big loss.I'd rather buy few expensive but high quality jigs and use them every time i go ice fishing, than buy a big lot of junk just to keep in the box and not even try them like a lot of guys do.That's the money waist ;D

Do not pass judgement until you see one, hold it in your hands, and fish with it. Trust me.

I don't see gold or glow epoxy on your bobbersdown.com.

They "do" sell a glow epoxy jig. It's in the wolfram epoxy jig section. Also, if you look under "combo packs", the have (2) "glow-in-dark 6-packs" of jigs.  You'll see it if you check around the site there a little more.

Get a panfish kit from Jamminjigs.com.  You will not be dissapointed.  They make
awesome neon glow jigs , 1/80th ounce and netural bouyancy jigs.  And all for 39 to
49 cents apiece individually.  These suckers catch fish no b.s.

Preacher man,
I got a jig kit at  the begining of last season.  When the gills got to sniffing my
bait and backing out of the hole I used the netural bouyancy and 1/80th ounce
jigs and caught large gills and sunnies when no one else could buy a bite.  I
also used the neon crappie glows on ice poles off the side of the raft this fall 'cause
I couldn't wait for ice season and I caught some fine walleyes each night I went
using minnows and charging up the jigs.  The #6 hook green  teardrops with a couple of waxies caught me  a dozen gills around  9" this afternoon.

Hey, Tip-up Tommer. How do you rig the small jig above the bottom one? Do you use a dropper?

All I have is some of the Jammin Jigs that I won in the tourney last year, as I do not fish for bluegills a great amount. I love those jigs, and have done particularly well with one of the teardrops in a chartruese coloration.

Most of my favs have been mentioned, but I have to put in a strong vote for the Wolfram tungsten; gold with a tiny glow band. It was lethal last night, right up to the time the line got hopelessly tangled in the spring bobber. Since it had already accounted for a dozen or more good gills (only one under 7'') and a 12'' perch, I snipped her off and grabbed another rod. Caught a couple more, but the thrill was gone, and so was the light. Another big plus was they only cost .99 in a bargain bin at Cabelas, back in the fall. What's that old saying? If I only knew then..........

Quite a few people mentioned the Jammin jigs, so I checked them out and was surprised when I saw that they make a copy of one of my old standbys-the Moon Glo-they make a standard glow very similar to the original down to the glitter and they have a neon Moon Glo.  Well now I know where to fill up my box with Moon Glo's if I ever go Crappie or Gill fishin again!
